If you're new to yoga or never been to a yoga studio, this guide will help you make yourself at home here.
To help you enjoy a meditative and relaxing environment, we ask that you…
Arrive early. Getting to class 10 minutes ahead of time allows you to settle in and start relaxing. While waiting, you can practice a pose, stretch, sip some tea or just breathe and center yourself. We start and end classes on time, and the front door is locked once class starts.
Let us know you're here. Check in when you enter the studio. Let the instructor know if you are new (you’ll need to sign the waiver) and/or have physical issues of which we need to be aware.
Use the cubbies. Leave everything outside the studio (other than what you need for your practice). There are cubbies in the lobby in which you can leave shoes, wallet/purse, cell phone, etc. We lock the door when class begins to ensure the safety of your belongings. DON'T FORGET TO TURN OFF YOUR PHONE.
It's not a competition! Put your full intent into class, but detach yourself from the result. Always practice compassion with yourself to avoid strain or injury; no matter what your level, you will benefit from practicing your version of every pose!
Leaving early? Let us know if you need to leave early and please do so quietly before Savasana starts. We are happy to help you accommodate your schedule, but we request that you be as least disruptive to everyone else in the room as possible.
Observe silence in the studio. Take your friends into the lobby. The studio itself a quiet place for those who are trying to slow down.
Be comfortable. Wear appropriate, comfortable clothing, come to class clean, and please, no perfume or strong smelling scents (including essential oils).
Follow the teacher. Please trust your teacher to guide you through an awesome practice! It can be confusing to others if you do your own moves. That said, please feel free to modify your practice as needed.
Share your good vibes! Our mission statement is easy to follow----> Breathe, relax, smile, laugh and hug.....a lot! The person next to you today might need your flow, breath, energy, and/or compassion. Our energy increases exponentially because we are together. Someone equally generous will be near you and give back when you need the same.
