N.Y.M.Y.- Introducing Yoga for Teens & Tweens!
This introductory class will offer teens and tweens a chance to explore aspects of yoga such as breathing techniques, asana, and mindfulness in a setting specifically designed just for them.
In today’s world, teens are prematurely exposed to many stresses, unrealistic ideals, demanding expectations of academic, sports, and social achievements, and their minds are not equipped to handle these pressures without learned coping skills. It’s no wonder so many kids today are suffering with depression and anxiety. Studies have shown that yoga can have positive benefits for people with depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and many other mental health conditions. Help your teen/tween navigate through these years with confidence and peace of mind!
Beginning a yoga practice in your teens has life long benefits:
Fitness being only 1 benefit, yoga can help teens learn balance and poise as their bodies grow and change.
Learning mindfulness techniques can help keep teens stay focused as they juggle life demands in school, home, and extra curricular activities.
Breathe work taught in yoga can help bring calm and a sense of control into your world, no matter where you are.
Asanas, (yoga positions), set to modern, contemporary music, cooperative games, and process art will make this class “Not Your Mama’s Yoga”!!
Pre-registration is REQUIRED as Space is Limited to 14.
