A Kid's Yoga! Yoga for Children 5-10 years old

Join us at Uptown for fun, smiles, process art, cooperative games, and mindfulness activities that teach your child the fundamentals of yoga, such as breathing techniques for calming, yoga poses for physical coordination, and learning to pay attention to ourselves, as well as the people and the world around us.

In an August 2016 article for Harvard Health Blog, Marilyn Wei, MD cited compelling reasons for kids to practice yoga: “Yoga and mindfulness have been shown to improve both physical and mental health in school-age children (ages 6 to 12). Yoga improves balance, strength, endurance, and aerobic capacity in children. Yoga and mindfulness offer psychological benefits for children as well. A growing body of research has already shown that yoga can improve focus, memory, self-esteem, academic performance, and classroom behavior, and can even reduce anxiety and stress in children.”

Help you child learn fundamental positive skills to excel in today’s world, yet disguised as a fun-filled 90 minutes of play and art!!

Pre-registration is REQUIRED as Space is Limited to 14.

COST- This workshop is by Donation only. In an effort to make this practice accessible for everyONE, this class is free for all who need or want to attend! However, if you feel you have the means and ability to pay, a recommended donation of $12 (or any amount you can afford) would be appreciated.

Not Your Mama's Yoga... Introducing Yoga for Teens & Tweens! (By Donation)

N.Y.M.Y.- Introducing Yoga for Teens & Tweens!

This introductory class will offer teens and tweens a chance to explore aspects of yoga such as breathing techniques, asana, and mindfulness in a setting specifically designed just for them.

In today’s world, teens are prematurely exposed to many stresses, unrealistic ideals, demanding expectations of academic, sports, and social achievements, and their minds are not equipped to handle these pressures without learned coping skills. It’s no wonder so many kids today are suffering with depression and anxiety. Studies have shown that yoga can have positive benefits for people with depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and many other mental health conditions. Help your teen/tween navigate through these years with confidence and peace of mind!

Beginning a yoga practice in your teens has life long benefits:

  • Fitness being only 1 benefit, yoga can help teens learn balance and poise as their bodies grow and change.

  • Learning mindfulness techniques can help keep teens stay focused as they juggle life demands in school, home, and extra curricular activities.

  • Breathe work taught in yoga can help bring calm and a sense of control into your world, no matter where you are.

Asanas, (yoga positions), set to modern, contemporary music, cooperative games, and process art will make this class “Not Your Mama’s  Yoga”!!
